First Line Fertility Treatment

Depending on the results of your fertility assessment, you may be recommended to undergo basic fertility treatment, otherwise known as assisted reproduction. There are several types of fertility treatments that can either be done individually or in conjunction with other methods. Below is a brief description of some common treatment methods.

Natural Cycle Monitoring:
Natural intercourse is the obvious first choice for basic fertility treatment. This is to reduce the emotional and financial burden to our patients. However, in some cases, patients do not conceive due to difficulties related to ovulation timing. Using all of the resources at our disposal, our experienced staff will monitor you to determine the precise moment of your ovulation for natural intercourse, or other treatments such as ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination (IUI)

Controlled Ovarian Stimulation & Ovulation Induction:
These are the most common fertility treatments and involve stimulating your ovaries using medications or fertility drugs. By controlling the type and amount of drug used, we can accurately determine the time ovulation. Other than the timing we can also increase the number of eggs ovulated to compensate for poor individual egg quality.

Intrauterine Insemination:
Intrauterine Insemination is beneficial for individuals who wish to become pregnant using donor sperm, or partners where the sperm has difficulty reaching the growing egg. Such causes for this difficulty could involve poor sperm quality or quantity. During this procedure, a catheter is passed through the cervix and into the uterus. Cleaned samples, where poor quality sperm are removed, are then placed into the woman’s uterus through the catheter.
